Sue Ratcliffe

Consultant Patent and Trade Mark Attorney

Sue is a Chartered UK Patent Attorney, a European Patent Attorney and a Registered Trade Mark Attorney by examination, who works as a part-time consultant for Greaves Brewster LLP. In the past she has acted for major “blue chip” corporations as well as individuals, SMEs and universities. In particular she has provided advice on IP portfolios to the investor community.

Sue has been very much involved in training, being a tutor for the European Patent Institute and a member of the Joint Examination Board for the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), which sets the professional exams for the patent profession. She has also lectured to the business community, including to the Institute of Directors, and written articles for the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and for World Export publications. In 2007, Sue was voted an IP Luminary by her peers in a worldwide review of IP advisors, which was sponsored by the Managing Intellectual Property publication, and she was a judge for The Female Inventor of the Year awards in both 2008 and 2009. Sue has also served on the CIPA Council.
