Kapil joined Greaves Brewster in 2021. He is a Chartered UK Patent Attorney, a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney. He has a Masters degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Regenerative Medicine, both from the University of Nottingham.
Kapil entered the IP profession in 2011 and has spent time working in both private practice and industry before joining Greaves Brewster. Whilst in private practice he worked closely with SMEs developing their global patent strategy in the fields of organic chemistry and pharma. He also worked in a wide variety of life science-related fields including pharmaceuticals, vaccines, stem cell culture, tissue engineering, advanced drug delivery, biofuels, GM crops and antibody screening technology.
Kapil then moved to industry, acting on behalf of The Boots Company plc. Whilst there he developed skills in freedom to operate analyses, competitive intelligence, licencing and IP due diligence. He also spent time training scientists in how to identify possible inventions and then in how to develop studies and present data so that inventions could be converted into patent applications quickly and efficiently.
It was also in industry that Kapil qualified as a Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney and during his time there he carried out work not only on behalf of the Boots Retail Own Brand but also on behalf of well-known CPG brands such as No7 and Liz Earle. Trade Mark work involved the protection and management of International portfolios, conducting clearance searches for new brands, as well as handling contentious matters such as oppositions and enforcement.
Kapil loves being outside and spends his free time running, hiking, cycling, climbing, camping and snowman-building in the British countryside.
